Experts Answer on Above Transportation Efficiency Analysis
Introduction
The main aim of this transportation efficiency analysis is to analyze the cost and efficiency of commuting to UiTM using four different Transportation modes including bus, LRT, Grab and motorcycle. The study is quite important because the implication of cost and time is significant on students as the transportation expenses can directly affect their monthly education budget. The objective is therefore to identify the cost effective and time efficient option available to the students in traveling to UiTM on a daily basis while maintaining a balance between affordability and convenience.
Methodology
The collection of data is performed over a period of five consecutive weekdays. The comparison was carried out with respect to four transportation modes including RapidKL bus, LRT, Grab and Motorcycle. In respect to each of these modes, the specific data collected was the daily travel cost in RM and average travel time in minutes. The collected data is analyzed using Microsoft Excel utilizing important metrics including sum, average, maximum and minimum functions.
Findings and Analysis
| Modes | Daily Cost (RM) | Weekly cost (RM) | Travel Time (minutes) |
| Bus | 4 | 20 | 55 |
| LRT | 8 | 40 | 40 |
| Grab | 20 | 100 | 25 |
| Motorcycle | 6 | 30 | 30 |
| Average | 190 | 37.5 |
The data above indicates the daily cost across four different transportation modes, and they were converted into weekly cost considering five working days. The average travel time is also indicated in minutes. The calculation as performed indicates the average weekly cost at RM190 whereas the average travel time is 37.5 minutes. Grab is the costliest transportation mode as it amounts to R100 per week, but at the same time, it is the fastest mode, as it takes 25 minutes on an average.
Discussion
The analysis of findings clearly indicates the difference between the cost and travel time across four different modes, and it shows a clear trade-off between cost and travel time. It is discussed that the cheapest option available is bus as it costs RM20 per week, but at the same time, it takes the longest travel time of 55 minutes to reach UiTM. On the other hand, Grab is the fastest option available as it takes 25 minutes to reach using Grab, but it costs the maximum that is RM100 per week. In respect to LRT, it provides a balance between the cost and travel time, as it costs RM40 weekly with a 40 minutes average journey. Motorcycle on the other hand offers relatively low cost at RM30 per well and it has a shorter travel time of 30 minutes which makes it the most efficient.
It therefore implies that most of the UiTM students in Klang Valley can use motorcycles, as it provides the best balance between affordability and convenience.
Saving Suggestions
Students are already on budgets and it is important for them to utilise all the strategies that lead to minimum impact on their pocket. They can use student travel discounts by applying for a student concession card on public transport, or they can also consider carpooling with friends to share the cost. The strategy of traveling during off peak hours is also a good option along with utilizing transportation apps to compare fares and routes before traveling.
Conclusion
The entire analysis as carried out leads to the conclusion that the most efficient Transportation mode is motorcycle for a UiTM student. It allows for a proper trade off between the cost and travel time which is not possible in case of bus even though it is cheaper, as it takes more time to reach. Grab offers speed but at a substantially higher cost.
