Part 1: Lesson Objective (25 marks)
• Develop one lesson objective from a Term 2 topic in any of your current registered subject specialisations. You must consult the relevant Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement (CAPS) document and page number to assist you with your planning.

• You will be awarded a zero if you do not use a CAPS document to formulate your lesson objective.
• Your lesson objective must be at a Bloom’s Taxonomy level of Comprehension, Application, Analysis, Synthesis, or Evaluation. For this assignment, you may not create a lesson objective at Bloom’s Taxonomy level of Knowledge. You will be awarded a zero if you create a lesson objective at Bloom’s Taxonomy level of Knowledge (Recall and Remembering).
• You will be awarded a zero if you create more than one lesson objectives for Part 1.
• Your lesson objective must meet the 4Ms, namely:
Manageable – It is small enough for learners to be able to master it in one lesson.
Measurable – there is a clear way for the teacher to measure whether the learners have mastered the objective.
Made First – Begin with the end in mind. The objective must always come first, and then create an activity for that objective.
Most Important – Your objective should be guided by what is most important for the learner to understand so that they are ready for the next topic, unit, term, or grade.

In addition, read Chapter 9 – Planning Your Lesson in the prescribed textbook for this module, Help I am a student teacher. This chapter offers valuable information on how to develop lesson objectives, as well as the purpose of each of the lesson phases.
• Key questions to ask yourself while creating the Lesson Objective:
Look at the upcoming exam and the questions related to this lesson objective. What do learners have to know and do to be able to answer one of these questions correctly?
If you asked them how they know their answer is correct, what key conceptual understanding do you want them to be able to articulate?
Of all the skills / knowledge needed to answer exam questions, what are the most important parts for you to address in this lesson?
Part 2: Do Now (25 marks)
• Create a Do Now activity that meets the following requirements:
Aligns to the lesson objective
Activates prior knowledge for the upcoming lesson topic
Can be completed independently by learners
Requires learners to produce written work
Will take learners between 3-5 minutes to complete

• Key questions to ask yourself while creating the Do Now:
Can learners start the Do Now right away by themselves?
Will this Do Now last for more than 3-5 minutes?
Does this Do Now require learners to produce written work?
Does the Do Now preview the content you’re about to cover?
Part 3: ‘I Do’ (25 marks)
• Write a script for a five-minute presentation of the ”I Do” that meets the following requirements:
Aligns to the lesson objective and the Do Now
The ‘I Do’ script should be between 600 to 750 words. This is usual for a speech delivered at a moderate pace at around 125 to 150 words per minute, which is clear and easy for the audience to follow.
The ‘I Do’ should be scripted word for word.
Include key understandings learners must reach by the end of the lesson.
Remove extraneous words that do not add value. Make the script tighter and shorter until every word has value.
Tell the learners what it is they need to know and show them how to execute the skill from the lesson objective
Demonstrate what to do by working through an example
While conducting this demonstration, share your thinking using a “think-aloud”

• Key questions to ask yourself while creating the ‘I Do’ script:
Look at your objective and the key understandings that learners need to have in order to master it. How will you explain those key understandings?
What are the possible key points of confusion for many of the learners? Where should you emphasise your points most clearly to address that confusion?
What are the key points you want to communicate during the ‘I Do’?
How can you make your ‘I Do’ easy to remember and deliver in the moment?
Part 4: Exit Ticket (25 Marks)
• Create an Exit Ticket that meets the following requirements:
Aligns to the lesson objective, the Do Now, and the ‘I Do’.
Is completed independently by learners
Is one to three questions long
Assesses what you taught the learners
Yields data so that you know exactly what learners did and did not understand
