Care Certificate Workbook Answers
Care certificate is an important course that is highly relevant especially for health and social care workers because it helps in developing necessary skills, knowledge and behaviour required to provide safe and high quality care in the workplace. This particular course of care certificate comprises of 15 standards and it is important to complete all of them in order to achieve successful qualification as a care worker. Care Certificate Standard 1 – Understand Your Role
This standard emphasizes on understanding your role as a care worker. It requires the care worker to consider their own experiences, attitudes, beliefs, values and aims and objective at work. The unit is quite helpful in understanding your own role, and it emphasizes on working in partnership and reporting. It helps in identifying the ways in which a care worker can work as agreed with the employer and better help in understanding working relationships in health and social care.
Care Certificate Standard 2 – Your Personal Development
The emphasis of this particular standard is on achieving personal development. This will include an understanding of personal development plans and how they are important in achieving better personal development. The unit is also quite beneficial in terms of understanding the importance of receiving feedback and developing core skills through learning and development. The concept of supervision, appraisal and objectives are also deeply explored as a part of this unit.
Care Certificate Standard 3 – Duty of Care
The role and importance of duty of care is highly explored in this particular unit. The ways in which duty of care is useful in ensuring a safe workplace practice is analysed in this unit. The duty of care teaches about the ways in which a care worker can deal with comments, complaints incidents, and error in the work. The unit is therefore highly effective in allowing the care worker to deal with complex situations in a positive way.
Care Certificate Standard 4 – Equality and Diversity
Equality and Diversity are important elements of this particular standard, and the emphasis is on understanding what discrimination is, while providing care services. Care Certificate Standard 5 – Work in a Person Centered Way

This unit also explores the 6 C’s of care and provides a clear definition of a care plan and its importance in performing the role of a care worker. The ways in which a person centred approach can be applied in order to support individuals is explored as a part of this unit, and finally it also pays attention towards promoting wellbeing and having empathy in your role.
Care Certificate Standard 6 – Communication
The standard of communication will explore the ways in which communication plays an important role in performing the role of a care worker. A care worker is required to understand different types of communication including verbal and nonverbal communication and the ways in which communication plays an important role at workplace. The unit is quite helpful in learning the ways of making out the communication and language name and preferences of individuals. The importance of confidentiality is also explored as a part of communication and how it can assist a care worker in performing their role in an effective way.
Care Certificate Standard 7 – Privacy and Dignity
The role and importance of privacy and dignity in care is the primary focus area in this particular standard. Care Certificate Standard 10 – Safeguarding Adults
The role and importance of safeguarding vulnerable adults is critically analysed in care certificate Standard 10. The concept of vulnerable adults and also a discussion on different types of abuses faced by an individual are critically explored in this standard. The legislation that are utilised in protecting vulnerable adults also forms a part of discussion in Standard 10. Care Certificate Standard 11 – Safeguarding Children

The roles and responsibility of employer and employee in maintaining health and safety is discussed and it also includes a discussion on administering medication and handling and using correct PPE.
Care Certificate Standard 14 – Handling Information
It is important to handle information carefully in providing care to patients. This standard discusses about the agreed ways of working and legislation regarding the storing and sharing of information. The role and importance of having secured system for the purpose of recording, storing and sharing information is also critically analysed. The discussion on eight Caldiott Principles also forms a part of standard 14 and it also includes a discussion on the ways in which concerns related to recording, storing and sharing of information can be reported both internally and externally.
Care Certificate Standard 15 – Infection Control
It is important for the care worker to adapt necessary measures in order to control the infection. The final standard 15 deals with different types of infections and also includes a discussion on the short-term and long consequences of infection. The ways in which transmission of infection can be broken down is also made aware to the care worker in this standard. The roles and responsibilities of employer and employee are also discussed in relation to controlling the infection.
